Brian Chan is the public face of B.C. fly fishing. He is renowned for his expertise in Stillwater fly fishing techniques and is a regular guest on TV fishing shows and exhibitions throughout North America. As a biologist, his knowledge of entomology and the trout's feeding habits is second to none.

Phil Rowley is one of Canada's premiere fly fishermen. He has a regular presence on the 24-hr fishing channel WFN, as the host of the New Fly Fisher. Many consider his first fly tying book, Fly Patterns for Stillwaters, a must-have for any serious fly tier.

Rich Strolis is my favorite river fly fisherman. In Connecticut, where he guides on the Farmington and Housatonic rivers, Rich lives and breathes fly fishing. He is an exceptional tier and a great teacher. He shares many of his favorite patterns through informative, easy-to-follow videos on his website.

Lake Fly Fishing

Our most popular excursions involve a full-day outing to one of our many mountain lakes where you can experience the thrill of stillwater fly fishing, by boat or pontoon. For the small mountain lakes we use a 12-foot jon-boat which can accommodate one or two people. We also have our 17-foot ALWELD aluminum boat with a modified V-hull that is designed specifically for fly fishing. This boat is fully carpeted, has pedestal seats, and a front casting deck. It provides for a very comfortable day of fly fishing on the larger mountain lakes.

Another popular way to enjoy lake fly fishing is by pontoon boat or float tube. We use a variety of OUTCAST pontoon boats and the STILLWATER SERIES of float tubes. These provide a comfortable, close-to-nature feel to stillwater fly fishing.

We will primarily be targeting rainbow trout, but can also catch brook trout and large-mouth bass in some of the lakes. We will instruct you on stillwater techniques which include, chironomid fishing, trolling, and cast and strip retreives. If the hatches are right we can get into some exciting top surface dry-fly fishing.

For the more adventurous, a hike-in trip to an isolated mountain lake offers a true commute with nature and a fly fishing experience unencumbered by cell phones, other people, and other worries. You will have to help back-pack the equipment but the hike is short and pleasant.
